$12.3 million dollars raised from OCTOBER until 12 PM TODAY.
My freshman year, the total was $6.5 million dollars.
THON has now raised over $100 million total dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund since 1977.
Nothing in the world makes me as proud to be a Penn State alumna than THON. Not just the mind blowing totals, but the sheer outpouring of love from everyone involved that pushes us to top ourselves again and again.
WE ARE PENN STATE.
So, since you guys seem interested (ish) and I know there’s plenty of people in a similar position as me who might want something to reblog, here it is: my THON FAQ.
What is THON?
“THON” is the shortened name for the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. Started in 1973 as a charity fundraiser by various greek organizations here on campus, in the past 38 years it has grown exponentially. The largest student philanthropy in the world, over 15,000 students in dozens of campus organizations (not just sororities and fraternities, though they are still very important to the cause) come together to raise money.

reblogging my THON FAQ. It’s a little out of date by now, but to catch you up, last year’s total was $10.6 MILLION, and Hershey Med Center’s state of the art children’s hospital was built, dedicated and is now open, thanks to the support of the Four Diamonds Fund.
